Dr. William Carey Memorial Library & Resource Centre

Dr. William Carey was a founding member and pioneer missionary of the Baptist Missionary Society. He was born on 17th  August 1761 in the UK and came to India with his family as  a BMS missionary, arriving in November 1793. From this time until his death in 1834 Dr. Carey devoted himself to missionary work, Bible translation, campaigning against injustice, publishing Bangla magazines and Bangla grammar, theological teaching and a variety of social development work. He is often considered to be “the father of modern mission”.

To honour his memory and inspiring work, BBCS commissioned a mural for the campus entrance and created a library in his name. It was opened by BBCS president Mr. Joyanta Adhikari on 17 August 2013 and is located within the BBCS Baptist Mission Training facilities. It is a resource for studying theology and for learning. It is open from Monday to Friday in office hours.

Donations of good quality theology texts and historically significant books related to work in Bangladesh and BBCS history (in Bangla or English) are welcome.
