Children’s Department
“Teach the children and they shall not forget when they are old” Proverbs 22:6.
Bangladesh has one of the youngest populations in the world. Approximately 40% of the population are under the age of 19. Children are not only the future of church and society, they are very much members of our church today.
Sunday School
BBCS has over 3,500 children regularly gathering for Sunday School. We have Sunday Schools in 220 of our churches. We are committed to loving, nurturing and teaching them well so they can grow in their love for God and are able to express their worship of God. BBCS provide a teacher’s curriculum to support the work and every year there is an exam and certificate of learning for the children.
Teacher Training
Our Sunday School teacher training programmes run every year. We organize centrally training for our “expert teachers” so that they can then work in their ABCS’s to train others. We also organize some area based training. In this way we are seeking to make sure every church has trained and caring teachers working with the children each week.
Children’s Camps
The children always love the regional and national camps. Many Sunday Schools are quite small and so it is great to get together in bigger groups where songs, games, story-telling and learning about Jesus can be experienced.
Organisation
Shilpi Baroi is the secretary for the children’s and Sunday school department and coordinates and supports all of this exciting work. She works closely with the Sunday School organizers in each ABCS and her expert teacher team.
Every ABCS has a Sunday school convener. Together the convenors make a central committee.
